This isn't strictly the average writing post, but Soap Opera post it's still writing, so write about what you know.  I've been watching General Hospital since the 8o's, so I feel I know enough about it. That said, this is about a more recent post about the character of Willow Tait. Willow is a fictional character on General Hospital. She was introduced as a teacher first of all to Aiden son of Elizabeth Webber, than as Charlotte (Nina's step-daughter) and Lulu Falconeri's daughter,  Willow was shown to be the mother of Lucas and Brad's son Wiley except she wasn't Nelle Bensen and Brad had switched her son with Michael Quatermaine's son and her son was dead. We learned that her pregnancy had been forced by the cult leader Shiloh and that her mother, Harmony had been responsible for giving Willow to him. Willow had gotten away but she had to protect her child and had given him up for adaption.  Willow was a teacher now. Michael and Willow  became close friends while he allowed her to see Wiley because he understood her grief as he thought his own son dead for a year. When Nelle got out of prison and tried to sue for custody pretending that she wasn't responsible for any of her behaviour, Willow, Michael ,Chase and Sasha were worried that she could get access to Wiley. Sasha and Chase made it look like they had been cheating on Michael and Willow and it worked Michael and Willow married to get custody and fell in love.  Michael and Willow got divorced because they didn't discuss their mutual love and Willow married a dying Chase., but she loved Michael and they gave in to their feelings because she couldn't tell Chase and hurt him. Chase forgave her and Willow and Michael moved into together. Michael proposed to Willow she said no but they had a life together then Willow's mother died after trying to kill Alexis Davis and Carly , but not before Willow found out she wasn't her biological mother.  Willow decided that she didn't want to ever meet her biological mother and told Carly so. Carly kept that secret for about eight months plus but then told when Willow needed to know for a bone marrow transplant.

I recently read a post in Soap Hub http://bit.ly/3mlT4Bj

They don't seem to like the character of Willow Tait, much or understand her motives.

That said (just my opinion, but this is how I see Willow) and my rebuttal to this article.

Willow Tait Rebuttal:

Willow Tait was raised in a cult abused by a cult leader and had a baby by him. Willow tried to give that child, a good life by giving him up for adoption to a deserving loving couple who would be good to her baby and keep him safe from Shiloh and the mother who had turned her over to Shiloh.  Her son died and was substituted with Wiley of course she feels like a mother to Wiley. She is his mother, even if not biological. The key thing to remember about Willow is that she grew up in an abused situation and people who are abused learn quickly to stay away from people who might harm them like Nina has repeatedly. First Nina decided wrongly that Nina was a bad teacher to Charlotte and instead of looking into she tried to get Willow fired. She made Willow’s teaching life untenable leading Willow to think about nursing instead. Nina hurt Willow’s family; because that’s what Carly, Michael, Wiley, Donna and Jocelyn. They have supported her loved her when she needed family and have been there for her. While I do think Willow should have gotten treatment sooner, I understood why she chose her baby. However, I do think she needed to talk to Michael and they could have at least discussed her decision first, before going ahead and not getting treatment. Willow forgave Carly because she's been family to her and Carly didn't know Willow had cancer and Carly told Willow about her mother, when Carly realized that Willow had cancer and also because Willow knew she had said to Carly that she never wanted to meet her biological mother and Carly had comforted her like a real mother. Carly loves Willow like she's her biological daughter and Willow knows that.

Every time it came to Wiley, Nina was pushing to see him by insisting that Willow had no rights to him he was Nelle’s child. Nina sued to see Wiley by harming her husband bringing up the most painful parts of his life (where he was sexual abused in prison. after he killed Claudia to protect his mom) She tried to manipulate Willow time and time again to get her to let her see Wiley. Nina insinuated (without any really proof) that Willow was cheating on Michael and told Sonny and other people that. In fact, she approached poor TJ and could have caused problems in his marriage, as well as his relationship with Sonny (as TJ’s life partner is Sonny’s daughter’s sister.) Who would want such a person near your children, let alone near yourself? Willow also has the added issue that she is dying, and has little energy left to deal with Nina' s constant drama.

Last of all, and I stress again, Willow is dying; she does not have to see Nina if she doesn’t want to. If Liesel chooses to donate, if she tries to blackmail Willow demanding that Nina has a relationship with Willow, then Willow should take the marrow and cut her off too. Life is too short to deal with terrible people and DNA does not give them the right to abuse and denigrate you. Willow has gone through enough hades; she does not need more. If Nina really wants Willow to see her differently and be a real mother to her, then she needs to take her time and work towards that without pushing in Willow’s face. Willow has the right to do this at her own pace not Nina’s agenda. If Willow decides never to see Nina then Nina can only thank herself Drew is absolutely correct.
